Coastal boats

Coastal Rowing is the mountain biking of rowing. It is spreading fast all around the world after beginning in France in the 1980’s and it is where the current rules regarding manufacturing and racing were first codified.

There are three pathways to coastal rowing: Beach-sprints: Endurance: And Touring.

Beach-sprints first event was in Italy in 2015 at the Mediterranean Beach Games, The first World Rowing Coastal Championship’s for endurance racing was held in Cannes, France in 2007.  Both these World Championships have rowers representing their clubs and not nationalities.

Clubs and tour companies run 1000’s of tours around the world each year, including our sister company Rowing Tours NZ.

Racing boats

Kanghua Boats began their journey in 1989 and in 2019 Generation 2 boats are re-crafted based on the more than 30 year boat building experience of Eric Roy Sims, Philip Kemsley of the UK and Mr Shao the company owner of China.

Eric Roy Sims hand built Eton Boats for over a decade and has been repairing 150-200 boats per year. His knowledge of every facet of boat building extends across every boat manufacturer recognizing the strengths and limits of each boat maker. This knowledge is applied to the Generation 2 Boats now available.

Philip Kemsley trained to build boats and also repaired boats for over a decade. Philip’s attention to production and process control and management, materials testing assure the consistent quality of the Kanghua Generation 2 boats.

The Generation 2 boats are available in three different ranges with each range offering the full range of singles, double/pairs, quads/fours coxed and coxless and the eights.
